cam: stitch fix experiment

My sister Lindsey told me about this online personal styling service for women called Stitch Fix. You sign up, fill out a detailed style profile and then get assigned a personal stylist who picks out and sends you 5 items of clothing or accessories based on your style profile answers. You can choose to have a package come as often as every month or schedule a "fix" whenever you feel like it. Each styling costs $20. If you decide to keep any of the items, that $20 goes towards the total cost of the items. If you decide to send everything back then they still charge you the $20. If you keep all 5 items, you get 25% off the entire cost.

Here's a peek at my first Stitch Fix experience!

"Your stylist thought these would look great on you!"
Item #1: Infinity scarf
Item #2: Skinny jeans
Item #3: Silk top
Item #4: Comfy top
Item #5: Drape front cardigan
I was delightfully surprised by the contents of my package, especially since Linds and I got very different things (she got a wrap dress, lightweight cardigan, earrings, red jeans, and a top). I've decided to keep the scarf and the sweater. The jeans reminded me too much of jeggings, the silk top was way too big, and I already own a gray top like the one they sent me, so I'm sending those three items back.

In addition to the clothes, they also send you some suggested styling options, an itemized receipt to see how much each item costs, and a pre-paid priority mailing envelope to make returning the unwanted stuff super easy!

I really liked that they give you the opportunity to give feedback on their styling so that they know what type of stuff to send (and not send) in your next package.

This was a fun experiment and I'm excited about my new purchases! I would definitely do it again sometime down the road, especially now that they have an even better sense of my style. Linds loved her experience so much, she signed up for a "fix" every month! Try it out for yourself!

cam: one-piece suit pursuit

It is freaking cold. Like so cold. Like I'm starting to get really angry about everyday, having to wrap my infinity scarf around my neck, stacking it up so it reaches my eyes and wearing my hair a certain way so I don't look like a hairless man while wearing a hat. I know it's only January and in Boston we have at least 2-3 more months of this 16 feels like -1 business, but I can't take it anymore.

Lucky for me, I am headed to the US Virgin Islands over Presidents Weekend. Sounds really extravagant I know but there are direct flights from Boston to St. Thomas for a really reasonable price on JetBlue so, step off it. After I booked this ticket I naturally began online shopping for USVI outfits. And I'm kind of really into finding a great, flattering, strapless black one-piece. I'm getting sick of how unflattering and ill-fitting most bikinis are these days and am looking for a change. I haven't owned a one-piece since my middle school swim team days (go CSC Stingrays!) but now I'm back in the market. I saw this one while cruising the Madewell site and am obsessed:

I love the back! When I saw that it was Mara Hoffman, it made me want it even more. My friend Hannah always talks about the things she would do or buy "if she was Taylor Swift", which pretty much just means if she had all the money in the world. So if I was Taylor Swift, I would buy this suit and everything else Mara Hoffman creates. Her style is so bright and fun with these modern geometric patterns. Her stuff's is a bit pricey so I've resorted to only looking not touching...most of the time. Confession: last summer I splurged on one of her dresses to wear to my sister's wedding rehearsal dinner. I love it so much and am always trying to find opportunities to wear it again. Definitely worth it:

Annnnyways, since unfortunately that perfect black suit is almost $200, it's back to the drawing board/more online shopping. Anyone have any suggestions for where I can find a black strapless one-piece?

thank you mam: welcome to my blog!

Welcome and thank you for visiting my blog! I love finding things on the internet (recipes, clothes, deals, funny videos) and sharing them with my friends and family. I finally got up the courage to create my own blog (i.e. came up with a blog name that wasn't super lame...or is it?!) so I can share my findings with world wide web.

Each post will have a theme:
In "cam" posts, I'll share a recent recipe I tried or give an update on me. It's all about me.
"Bam" posts will BAM wake you up and hopefully say "Wow that's really cool I gotta have/try/buy/do/find that."
And finally in "thank you mam" posts, I will credit friends and family with certain findings, shout outs, or the like.

I hope you like what you see and come back again!
